Well, I was waiting eagerly for MAC to launch the complete Patrick Starrr collection here in India, specially the much talked about setting powder. However, MAC never launched that powder in India. So, well, I went ahead and got it. It has an eyeshadow quad and a matte liquid lipstick. Lets talk more in detail below.
Apply over eye area eyelid and crease with a brush, using a pressing motion to build colour for a bolder look. Apply over eye area with a brush, using a circular motion to blend for a diffused look. Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour: Apply to lips using the edge of the applicator for a smooth, sharp shape. Use the tip of the applicator to perfect your application.
For a diffused look, try blending the edges of lips with a brush before the Liquid Lipcolour dries. In pictures it looked like its going to be something. I mean, like at least a hard box. However, guys this is just a regular thin paper box which has a Louis Vuitton inspired trunk print.
So yes, I was disappointed with the outer packaging.
I was may be hoping for something solid, but all I got was a paper box with a fancy print. Moving on, the products inside are wrapped in a brown coloured paper very much like Jeffree Star products are packed. The eyeshadow quad and the lipstick itself do not have any surrounding paper box packaging. The eyeshadow quad looks absolutely stunning in the pictures. I mean, his eye makeup is beyond beautiful. I gave no second thoughts while getting this kit because of this eyeshadow quad.
However, am I happy now? Not entirely to be honest. The shades of the eyeshadows included here are lovely.
I am planning on doing a separate review on this palette. So for now, all I would say is, I am not happy with this. Some shades are patchy, some are difficult to blend or just too difficult to work with. The shade I was the most excited about — the gold shimmer one, Prima Donna proved to be a complete mess.
Cheap Alternatives To Your Favorite Makeup Buys
I am not saying that this palette is a complete failure. Makeup artists can of course work their way around it and create gorgeous looks. But what I am trying to imply here is, at this price, I expect top notch quality. Which obviously I did not get. So when someone asks us the ever-important questions "What's your favorite? The answers lie in the so-called cult classics, the lipstick shades that crop up regularly in articles and conversation as the best of the best for their ability to look incredible on everyone.
They're so iconic, they're known alone by sight, number, or name. To see if their claims truly do hold up, we recruited Glamour staffers to try on five of the most raved-about shades. Get their honest opinions below. MAC calls this a vivid red with blue undertones and a true matte finish.
We call it the most universally flattering red ever—and it's got the sales to back that up. According to the brand, it's the number-one-selling shade in the U. I've only ever seen it look amazing on every skin tone and every age. Maureen Choi, beauty editor: I didn't think it would work on my pinkish skin tone, but it was surprisingly flattering and jazzed up my blah face with very little effort.

It's a bit drier than other mattes, so next time, I'd do a lip scrub and balm underneath so it glides on a bit better. It's red, it's matte, and it's bold but not too bright. Christina Draper, fashion credits editor: It has that deep crimson red finish that isn't too orange nor too burgundy.

If you like a true red, this is the color to go for. I'd wear it all day, but it definitely can register nighttime red. I also noticed I got a strange amount of compliments on my cupid's bow, that little divot on the top of your top lip. Someone actually asked if I had put on lip liner. So it gave my lips awesome definition.

Definitely will be wearing this one a lot more. Smriti Sinha, senior social media manager: They best complement my skin tone, make my features more prominent, and get me ton of compliments, and this matte shade is perfect. It's definitely on the drier side of the scale, so go slow when you put it on and maybe start with a lip balm first. Lindsay Schallon, senior beauty editor: Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either. The blue undertones look great with my fair, neutral skin tone, and the color instantly makes it look like I tried.
I keep a tube at my desk for whenever I need a little something extra.
This deep, blackened violet only looks dark in the tube; when you glide it on, it leaves behind only the faintest sheer tint. Clinique launched it in the early seventies and it instantly became a best-seller. The brand now ships one tube of Black Honey every three minutes. It went on like butter and kept my lips juicy and plump, while adding just a hint of color and shine. It doesn't make a major statement, but that's the point—nice and subtle.
It feels like a tinted lip balm. When I wear lipstick, though, I like to go full-throttle with color and this one really is super-sheer. You have to apply layers on layers to really get the super-pretty purple hue. It actually looked like I had nothing on but gloss. It was too similar to my natural lip color but with shine like a lip gloss, which is also not a me thing.
It didn't look bad; it just didn't pop. It definitely has the moisture I'm looking for in a lip color too. This buildable shade is now at my desk, in my bag, and on my nightstand. Yes, I have three of them.
This hot pink with cool undertones and a velvety, semi-matte texture is named after iconic fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, who was famously known for wearing a bright pink lip. Just one swipe makes me look alive. I like dabbing some on straight from the tube and then using my finger to smudge the color out to the edges; no need to be precious about it.
